Projekt meeting and conference "Biomass Estimation by Remote Sensing" in Eberswalde

The fifth meeting of the project "Forseen POMERANIA" took place on the 23 and 24 of April in Eberswalde. The meeting was organized by the Eberswalde forestry state center of excellence (LFE). On the first day, the project partners hosted a conference under the title "Biomass estimation by Remote Sensing" in the LFE auditorium which was open to the public. Speakers from all partner institutions presented their current activities and the first outcomes of the joint research to more than 70 participants from Poland and Germany. Prof. Birgit Kleinschmit (Technical University Berlin) and Philipp Lehman (DELPHI IMM corporation, Potsdam) gave additional talks on opportunities and trends in remote sensing and biomass modelling. In the evening, a barbecue was held at the botanical garden in Eberswalde for the project partners which was sponsored by the Brandenburg Forestry Association.

On the second day of the meeting the partners discussed the tasks and responsibilities for the remaining duration of the project. The topics that were addressed include the final project report, financial issues, joint publications, and the transfer of project outcomes to the regional stakeholders. The sixth (and last) project meeting in October 2013 will be hosted by the University of Poznań. It will take place in close connection to the international "Forest Biomass Conference".
