The international team behind the “Virtual Wood University” project held a meeting at the PULS
From April 20–24, the Poznań University of Life Sciences hosted another meeting of the Erasmus+ “Virtual Wood University” project team, bringing together partners from across Europe working on a modern educational program in the field of the circular economy. The event was organized by a team from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology under the direction of Prof. Bartłomiej Mazela, in cooperation with the International Relations Office at PULS.
The meeting was very intensive and productive, resulting in the refinement of the key principles of the future degree program. The participants finalized the curriculum for the European Master in Wood and Circular Economy – a unique, international program that brings together the expertise of Europe’s leading academic institutions. The program reflects a pan-European perspective and addresses the current needs of the industrial sector.p
The new program is based on a hybrid teaching model. Particular emphasis is placed on issues related to sustainable development, advanced wood technologies and the integration of technical knowledge with business skills.
The “Virtual Wood University” project is viewed as a ‘lighthouse’ initiative in European higher education, as it combines research, education and international industry collaboration, setting new standards for training specialists for the circular economy.
A highlight of the first day of the meeting was the participation of university and faculty authorities. Among those in attendance were Prof. Karolina Pawlak – Vice Rector for International Relations – and Prof. Kinga Stuper-Szablewska – Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology – whose presence served as a sign of support for the project.
Another key factor in the project’s success is the commitment and shared vision of the consortium partners. As the participants emphasize, the project goes beyond the development of a degree program and aims to develop a new model for training specialists for the circular bioeconomy sector.
The next phase of the project will involve the accreditation process and preparations for launching the program, which is scheduled for 2027.
