Japanese vet students visit PULS

16.03.2026

From 2 to 8 March, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the Poznań University of Life Sciences (PULS) hosted an international student exchange organised on the initiative of the International Veterinary Students’ Association (IVSA) Poznań in collaboration with IVSA Japan. As part of the programme, a group of ten vet students from Japan visited the university.

Throughout the week-long visit, the guests had the opportunity to explore our university, its campus and the city of Poznań, and to learn about Polish culture, customs and everyday student life. The students were officially welcomed to the university by the PULS Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Karolina Pawlak, and Vice-Dean for Studies at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, Prof. Paweł Kołodziejski.

The boot cap agenda covered workshops and educational sessions organised with the support of the university staff and veterinary surgeons. Eryka Pankowska, veterinarian from the ‘Cisnę Klatę’ organisation, led first aid workshops and training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Marta Rogacka, PULS University Centre for Veterinary Medicine vet ran teaching session on clinical work with emergency cases and a workshop on the use of ultrasound diagnostics (USG). Milena Mikołajczyk, from the PULS Centre of Foreign Languages gave a Polish language lesson, whilst Dr. Natalia Sowińska, led a session on neonatology.

Moreover, the programme also included opportunities to explore the region’s culture and history. The week-long exchange was a time of intense learning, sharing of experiences, and forging international connections and friendships. The event provided a platform for exploring different cultures and educational systems within the field of veterinary medicine.

A return visit is already planned for the following week. A group of ten veterinary students from UPP will travel to Tokyo for a seven-day stay in Japan to continue their collaboration and learn about the culture and academic environment of their Japanese partners.

Initiatives such as this one showcase the important role that student engagement and collaboration within international academic organisations play in the internationalisation process of the universities.
