Polish-Dutch student collaboration

For several years now, the Department of Agronomy has been collaborating with HAS Green Academy in the Netherlands. As part of this collaboration, students and lecturers – thanks in part to the Erasmus+ programme – have the opportunity to develop their skills and broaden their knowledge. Another study visit by students from HAS Green Academy in ’s-Hertogenbosch has recently taken place.

For several years now, the Department of Agronomy has been collaborating with HAS Green Academy in the Netherlands. As part of this collaboration, students and lecturers – thanks in part to the Erasmus+ programme – have the opportunity to develop their skills and broaden their knowledge. Another study visit by students from HAS Green Academy in ’s-Hertogenbosch has recently taken place.

Three students undertook a dissertation on an extremely important and current issue: how three types of farms in Wielkopolska region can become economically and environmentally sustainable by 2040, whilst preserving their cultural significance. This is an ambitious but very important challenge.

The students from the Agritourism Study Circle – Magdalena Kowalska and Roksana Szlachta – were involved in organising the study visit, alongside the Study Circle’s president, Wiktoria Szukała. Thanks to their commitment, the guests were able to learn about interesting case studies, whilst Polish students had the opportunity to get to know their own region better and see just how important and diverse a sector of the economy agriculture is in Wielkopolska region.

During the visit, the group visited, among other places, the Experimental Station in Brody and the family farms of PULS students Jakub Lum and Dawid Broniarczyk. The students also visited the Lehman agricultural and service farm, which includes a horse hotel, the Alpari Wool alpaca farm, and the Natura 2000 site in the Notecka Forest.

It was an extremely valuable week, which allowed all participants to learn from one another
