Poznań University of Life Sciences hosts the 40th EFFoST International Conference!
The Poznań University of Life Sciences will host the 40th EFFoST International Conference, which will take place on November 4-6, 2026 in Poznań. The conference will be held at the Poznań Congress Center (PCC) on the premises of the Poznań International Fair.
EFFoST (European Federation of Food Science and Technology), founded in 1986 as a non-profit organization based in Wageningen, the Netherlands, brings together more than 130 scientific societies, institutes and universities from across Europe, serving as the European arm of the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST). EFFoST organizes prestigious annual scientific conferences, bringing together specialists and creating a platform for the exchange of knowledge on innovation in food processing, food safety, sustainable production technologies and adaptation to climate challenges and global trends in the food sector. Every year, 800-1000 scientists from around the world participate in the conferences, presenting their achievements in the form of lectures, posters and panel discussions on selected topics.
Next year's 40th edition of the EFFoST International Conference in Poznań, entitled “Building sustainable food systems: Today's challenge for a better tomorrow,” will focus on key challenges related to building sustainable food systems, integrating scientific and technological innovations for the benefit of human health and the planet. The conference will cover five main areas: raw materials, ingredients and alternative food sources; new trends in food processing, preservation and packaging; digitalization, robotics and artificial intelligence in food processing; consumer demands and personalized nutrition; advances in analytical methods for food safety, authenticity and traceability. These areas of scientific exchange will highlight an interdisciplinary approach to the transformation of the food sector, promoting collaboration between scientists, industry and consumers to create resilient and sustainable solutions for the future.
The EFFoST conference is accompanied by Young EFFoST Day, a special half-day program dedicated to students, young scientists and early-career researchers. The event includes inspiring lectures, panel discussions with industry leaders, interactive workshops (e.g., on the circular economy or design thinking in sustainable food systems), networking and informal meetings, such as tastings of local specialties. The aim is to develop skills, exchange ideas and build professional networks among young researchers, industry and startups, thereby strengthening the future generation of innovators in the food sector.
The organization of the conference in Poznań was possible thanks to the involvement of scientists from the Faculty of Food Sciences and Nutrition at the Poznań University of Life Sciences, including Prof. Magdalena Rudzińska, Prof. Dorota Piasecka-Kwiatkowska, PhD and Prof. Dominik Kmiecik, PhD – with the support of the Poznań Congress Centre and the Poland Convention Bureau, which is the official partner of the event.
The scientific partner of the event is the Polish Society of Food Technologists and the Committee on Food and Nutrition Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
