PULS extends collaboration with Turkish Universities During the 2nd Polish-Turkish Rectors’ Forum

PULS Rector Prof. Krzysztof Szoszkiewicz, and Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Karolina Pawlak, represented the Poznań University of Life Sciences (PULS) at the 2nd Forum of Rectors of Poland and Türkiye, which took place on May 8 at the University of Gdańsk. The event was attended by 150 representatives from 79 academic institutions from both countries, and its aim was to deepen scientific, educational, and institutional cooperation between Poland and Türkiye.

One of the items of the agenda was a panel discussion on “Opportunities for Polish–Turkish Cooperation in Medical and Natural Sciences,” focusing on prospects for partnership in the medical and life sciences. Prof. Karolina Pawlak participated in the discussion and emphasized the importance of internationalizing education and developing degree programs that meet the needs of today’s job market. She also highlighted the significant potential for collaboration between Poland and Türkiye in the fields of life sciences, agriculture, and agribusiness, noting the importance of these sectors to the economies of both countries and the opportunities for jointly training highly qualified experts.

Moreover, the forum was also an opportunity to develop institutional partnerships. The event culminated in the signing of inter-university cooperation agreements. The Poznań University of Life Sciences signed Memoranda of Understanding with the Izmir Institute of Technology and Eskişehir Technical University. The collaboration will cover i.a. environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, food technology, and biotechnology.

The authorities of the participating higher education institutions also held discussions on expanding cooperation under the Erasmus+ Programme with further Turkish universities. The forum confirmed the growing importance of international academic partnerships and created an opportunity to develop new joint research and educational initiatives.
