Project start: 03.10.2023
End of the project: 02.10.2027
UPP Manager: Prof. Dr. Magdalena Zborowska, Management Committee Chair
Project Goal: To create a new comprehensive view of the European history of potash, wood tar, resin and charcoal (Potash, Tar, Resin, Charcol - PoTaRCh) by combining knowledge dispersed in Europe and outside the continent. Exploring cultural structures of forest by-products of interest in terms of tradition, language and identity. Creating an open-access knowledge resource on PoTaRCh to show the presence of PoTaRCh in Europe with links outside Europe, without losing the local and sub-regional context. To set a new standard for further archaeological, historical, environmental, chemical and sociological studies of the PoTaRCh.
