Visiting Shandong Agricultural University
On November 15-19, 2025 Prof. Karolina Pawlak, Vice-Rector for International Relations, visited Shandong Agricultural University (SDAU).
SDAU was established in 1906 and is located in Tai'an, at the piedmont of Mount Tai, which was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987. The university has approximately 37,000 students and its organizational structure is very similar to ours.
PULS has been cooperating with this partner since 2024, when SDAU established the China-CEEC Modern Agricultural Science and Education Innovation Alliance, bringing together 65 scientific, industrial, and educational institutions from China and Central and Eastern European countries. Our University was invited to become a founding member of the alliance, and at the founding conference was represented by PULS Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Szoszkiewicz.
The November visit in 2025 was the second opportunity for SDAU and PULS to meet and discuss research and education collaboration. On June 24-26 last year, the annual meeting of the China-CEEC Modern Agricultural Science and Education Innovation Alliance was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, where Prof. Karolina Pawlak gave a presentation on the experience of the Poznań University of Life Sciences (PULS) in academic cooperation between Poland and China.
While visiting SDAU, Prof. Pawlak took part in two international conferences in the field of agricultural and life sciences. At one of them, the 2025 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application “Biotechnology and Modern Agriculture,” the Vice-Rector spoke on behalf of the foreign experts attending the conference during the plenary session opening the proceedings. Over 300 conference participants listened to a report on collaboration partnerships between European and Chinese agricultural universities, good practices and factors stimulating this cooperation, and prospects for its development.
The next stages of the visit included meetings with university and faculty authorities, as well as the management of the SDAU International Cooperation Office. Discussions focused on the possibilities of short- and long-term staff and student exchanges, joint organization of double degree programs, and research collaboration. The meetings resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed on behalf of SDAU by the Vice-Rector and Dean of the College of Economics and Management, Prof. Yuxi Zhou.
The visit ended on a positive note, with plans for further active development of cooperation in 2026.
On behalf of SDAU, the visit was coordinated by Dr. Wang Li, Director, and Xue Dongming, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, to whom we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation for the excellent organization of the entire event.
